The Stanhope Community Building and Stanhope Public Library
The Stanhope Community Building houses the city offices, the public library, as well as a large meeting room equipped with kitchen facilities. The community building is located just south of the park at 665 Iowa Street. The lower level can be rented for meetings, family reunions, receptions, etc. For reservations, please contact City Hall at (515) 826-3290.
The Stanhope Public Library provides Internet access in addition to offering a wide variety of reading and audio-visual materials. Current library hours are: Tuesday-Thursday -- 1:00 - 6:30, Friday and Saturday -- 9:00 - 12:00. E-mail the library at stanpl@netins.net.
The Stanhope City Park offers a wide range of uses and activities. Located near the community building, it offers playground equipment, a food stand/shelter house, a baseball diamond with bleachers, and a second covered shelter. The city park is where Watermelon Day and Wednesday Night in the Park take place.

Emergency Services and First Responders are available, with police, fire, and ambulance service just minutes away.
Cooperative Telephone Exchange
Stanhope and the surrounding area is served by the Cooperative Telephone Exchange, with the business office located at 425 Parker Street. The Cooperative Telephone Exchange offers telephone, cellular, Dish network, voicemail, and internet services. Business hours are 8:00 - 4:30 Monday through Friday. Utility Services
Modern, efficient utility services are provided, including natural gas.
The Stanhope Municipal Electric Utility provides electricity for Stanhope.
The water treatment plant is located at 595 Bute Street adjacent to the community building. All Stanhope water is provided by to wells located in town and softened at the plant.
Safe and efficient natural gas service is offered by Peoples Natural Gas, served by their Webster City office. The telephone number for Peoples Natural Gas is 800-832-0432.
Liquid propane is available from the Central Iowa Cooperative, a full line farmers' cooperative located at 515 Railway Street. The CIC phone number is 826-3225.
Cable television service is available from Complete Communications Corp. out of Stratford. Their phone number is 838-2390.
Every local household is billed monthly for garbage service, with Wednesday the garbage collection day in Stanhope. Stanhope also has a recycling container located just east of the Stanhope Car Wash.
The following utilities are billed from the city office monthly for all Stanhope residents: electric, water, sewer, garbage and landfill. There is a utility payment drop box located near the front entrance to the community building.
The U.S. Post Office
The U.S. Post Office is located at 605 Park Street. Access to post office boxes is 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. every day. Mail is dispatched at 4:15 daily except Sundays. The counter is open Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. - noon and 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.
South Hamilton Community School District
Stanhope is part of the South Hamilton Community School District, with all students K-12 attending classes in Jewell, eight miles east of Stanhope. Two school buses transport Stanhope students to and from school. The school completed a 5.4 million-dollar renovation of the elementary building in 2000. If you have school-age children, school officials will notify you with all necessary details. The school administrative office phone number is (515) 827-5479. Stanhope Parish
The Stanhope Parish is one of the three churches of Stanhope. The congregation is made up of Methodist and Disciples of Christ members. In 1997, the Methodist church in town was torn down and both ministries, that had already been conducting church services together, joined in the Disciples of Christ building and changed the name to Stanhope Parish. During the summer, worship is held at 9:00 a.m. Sunday mornings with coffee and fellowship following. During the rest of the year, when Sunday School is held, worship is held at 10:00 a.m. after the adult and child Sunday Schools, which are held at 9:00. Our Savior's Lutheran Church
